Thomasson Partner Associates is a group of play-making geoscientists based in Denver, Colorado. Organized by M. Ray Thomasson (former Chief Geologist, Shell Oil Co.), the group of 22 explorationists provides major domestic exploration opportunities for individual operators, independents, and majors in the oil and gas industry. TPA's exploration guidelines include

Dick Gibson assists TPA when gravity and magnetic analysis is called for. He has worked on projects in Kentucky, South Dakota, and Montana for the group.

TPA has sold projects in Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois, Michigan, Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, South Dakota, Montana, and California, and is working on plays in many other areas. The latter include the Mid-Continent Rift, Paradox basin, and several Power River Basin projects.
